Lesley Andrade
Dr. Andrade is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. She is a Registered Dietitian and public health professional with nearly 20 years of experience in community and public health nutrition.
She holds a BSc from the University of Guelph, a Master of Health Sciences (Community Nutrition) from the University of Toronto, and a PhD (Public Health Sciences) from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Andrade's research interests include dietary patterns, dietary assessment methods and the use of systems thinking, health promotion, and behavioural design theory to inform equitable public health nutrition policies and practices.
Grounded in policy-relevant research, Dr. Andrade's doctoral research examined the relationship between the consumption of low- and no-calorie sweeteners and diet quality among children and adults living in Canada, drawing on dietary intake data from Canada's most recent national nutrition survey. During her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Andrade is examining the behavioural and contextual factors that drive sodium intakes among adults living in Canada; data which can be leveraged to inform population-level strategies likely to reduce population-level intakes.
